The assessment should be carried out using the following retrofit analysis publications as a general guide:
Arup & Property Council (2008), Existing Buildings Survival Strategies : A Toolbox for Re-Energising Tired Assets, Property Council of Australia.
Arup & Property Council (2009), Existing Buildings Survival Strategies : Making It Happen : Putting the Tools to Work, Property Council of Australia.
The assessment should be presented in a professional report format that includes an executive summary. The report should include your retrofit recommendations for the building and the approximate cost and benefits of these recommendations. The analysis should also address the ‘retrofit or demolish/reconstruct’ question for the project.
Make reasonable assumptions on the scope of the retrofit works, the owner’s budget and requirements and other details that are required to establish the parameters for the assessment. These assumptions should be clearly identified in the introduction to the report.
