Check My Assignment!I feel this course gave me the ability to really look at not only the artwork, but at the meaning behind why it was created and who created it. I believe art is an expression of the conscious and unconscious memories, experiences, daydreams and nightmares that are part of our everyday lives. There are some paintings, for example, Auguste Renoir (Dance at the Moulin de la Galette- 1876) that show such emotion in the body language and facial features of the people enjoying a formal night of drink and dance. It’s obvious to the observer that the artist wanted to capture a moment in time that expressed happiness and joy. Other artists like Edvard Munch, (The Scream, 1893) that shows horror in the expression on the face of a tortured soul. It could be through experience, a broken heart or the death of a family member that inspired this painting. I believe the artist, through emotion, thought and feeling, shows the state of this individual in that moment in time. You can see the turmoil throughout this painting in the way that everything appears warped and distorted. Artist can find inspiration anywhere, a specific event, someone they love, or even if it’s just through pure imagination. Art can be many things, but it’s through the artist that each image emerges to ultimately become and expression of the artist themselves.
My favorite Piece (although not in the book) is by Salvador Dali (Rose Meditative, 1958). I love the contrasting colors of red and blue. This is a beautiful painting that reminds me of my mothers roses in summer.
