Check My Assignment! How Technology Can Positvely and Negatvely Afec± In±erpersonal Relatonships We have chosen to research the topic of the posi±ve and nega±ve e²ects of technology on interpersonal rela±onships. We have chosen this topic because it is very relevant to interpersonal communica±on in this ±me period. Technology is a big part of our culture now and there is hardly a way around not taking part in it. How would my mom know what her good friends from high school were up to if she wasn’t friends with them on facebook? I mean, who calls people anymore? We have been given an amazing way to communicate with people, whether they’re down the street or halfway around the world, but, in some ways, it has not improved our rela±onships with people but rather hurt them. We believe the audience would like this topic because it is relevant to a lot of people’s lives and rela±onships these days.

Annotated Bibliography: Special Topic Presentation Topic: The Positive and Negative Effects of Technology on Interpersonal Relationships 1. Dennis, Troyce. The Average Amount of Hours People Spend on Electronics for Non- Work/School Related Activities .Wichita Falls, 7 November 2016. Field Survey. Troyce conducted a field survey about the average amount of time people thought Americans spent on their electronic devices, not including when they were doing work or school related work. She surveyed 100 people, half of them were students at Vernon College and the other half weren’t. She asked those 100 people these 2 questions, 1) “What are the average amount of hours you think the general population spends on social technology or uses technology for non-work/school related things?” and 2) “How many hours would you say you personally spend on social technology or use technology for non-work/school related things?”. Out of 100, 29 people said they believed the general population spends, on average, 13 to 16 hours on their social technology and 26 out of those 100 people said they personally spend 13 to 16 hours on their social technology. The people surveyed range in age from their late teens/early twenties to their forties. Source provided by Troyce Dennis.

The book Interpersonal Messages by Joseph A. Devito is a credible source because it is the book for our class. Although technology is not mentioned a lot in the book, there are a few brief sections that mention technology and what it has done to positively and negatively affect interpersonal relationships. In the book, Devito wrote about how technology has made it a lot easier to keep in touch with old friends and to possibly make new ones. As an example, he wrote that “establishing and maintaining friendships, in fact, are the major reasons for online communication”.
Devito also talks about the effect of technology specifically on family members, it makes contacting family from far away easier and it’s good in case of emergen………………………………………
Self-Evaluation on Informative Speech
To begin my self-evaluation, I would like to state I was not impressed nor was I satisfied with my performance. I think my partner, Lexi, did an exceptional job. We had our information well organized and it flowed smoothly from one point to the next. Our visual aid was created and displayed very well in accordance with the speech. It was personalized and laid out to emphasize or give an impact to areas within our speech. I excelled in my ability to research and collect strong information in abundance. I am learning that my ability to speak clearly and with enough volume is very beneficial in presenting a subject effectively. This particular subject was one my partner and I both have been effected by dramatically.
Having first-hand knowledge on the effects our topic has on people and others involved in their lives gives us a…………………….
