Personal values are our own deeply held beliefs and feelings that guide us in our behavior and decisions and these beliefs and feelings develop into ideals. Values are things that are important to someone. They are the things that one need in his/her life in order to be happy. Personal values are developed at an early age. They are principles that define an individual and it includes honesty, reliability, trust, caring for others, freedom to express opinion. They reside in our subconscious and they are tightly woven and integrated into the fabric of everyday living. We base our decisions and we choose behaviors, friends, employment, and entertainment on our values because values really matter to each of us.

Most of the time, a value conflict is the cause of a heated argument between friends, associates or even family members because one’s value was challenged or violated. Some of the values that I uphold strongly are honesty, truthfulness, hard work, respect, concern for others, communication, positive attitude, trust, leadership, persistence, love of country, discipline, cooperation, persistence, and patience. My parents and older relatives have shown me the importance of keeping these values in one’s life as they serve as guiding principles that help us in deciding what to do and how to react in daily life situations and trials. I have been raised by a family that is concerned with being concerned with others and to be considerate of other people whenever we do something. Aside from that, hard work is believed to be essential in order for one to live comfortably and well. …
