One of the lasting impressions I had was the transformation of the character’s Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Gilgamesh was a tyrant and a huge mean bully. Enkidu was sort of a self centered, wild man. After their friendship and connection began they both started changing. Gilgamesh starts to connect more with his people and becomes a great king and Hero. Enkidu changes from his animalistic ways to a quite an alluring nobleman. The love and friendship the two share make them both better men. I really believe in a way that Enkidu’s friendship was Gilgamesh’s great love of his life. He was so heartbroken and distraught after his death. Although he was part God, you could still see the impact of death, even on a great ruler. I don’t believe anyone can escape the awful, lonely, distraught feeling of losing someone you love.
