Since qualitative research typically involves studying subjects in their natural environments as much as possible, there is very little control over the study conditions. Qualitative research is dealing with how people feel about certain situations, or what their experiences were, so the investigator is usually at the mercy of the individual or individuals being studied (Chamberlain, 2017).
An advantage of this is that the study can yield truer results because nothing has been manipulated; it is just observing or interviewing them in their own environments or settings. A disadvantage is that people’s feelings and experiences are very subject to their own perceptions; and since the investigator is at the mercy of the studied individual, that person could be less than truthful when giving their answers

Week 4 DQ Qualitative Design and Sampling
Week 4: Qualitative Design and Sampling There are two main approaches to research: qualitative and quantitative. Choosing which method to use for conducting research depends on the research question being asked. Keele describes qualitative research as an “informal, subjective, inductive approach to problem- solving” (2010, p.35).
Qualitative research seeks to explain a current situation and only describes that situation for that group in its natural setting. Since only a current situation is observed, all qualitative research is done in the field. A possible exception is the focus group, which is conducted.
An advantage of qualitative research is that qualitative descriptions can play the important role of suggesting possible relationships, causes, effects and dynamic processes.
A disadvantage is the viewpoints of both researcher and participants have to be identified and elucidated because of issues of bia…………
