The rural population faces issues with inappropriate delivery of healthcare services that ranges from access, affordability a well as confidentiality and privacy of patient information. Several issues surround the competency of medical care in the rural setting such as the inability to offer specialty healthcare for the rural population. It is evidence that rural hospitals of the United States lack capacity o have adequate medical specialists to handle varied patient complications. The distance between hospitals is usually a far distance that takes one more than three hours thus forcing some medical assistants to provide care beyond their level of expertise. The medical personnel or nurses can perform their medical duties with minimum supervision in meeting health needs of the people residing in rural areas (Lyckholm, Hackney& Smith, 2001).Another major issue is the lack of confidentiality and privacy rural population concerning medical information. A skewed population lives and work in rural areas and this makes it easy for medical practitioners to know patients personally.
