The Masters Project is an assessable component of the final year of the Masters program. It is the capstone subject of the course and allows you to explore an area of interest in some depth. The project is the equivalent of two subjects and is taken over two semesters by enrolling in this 10 credit point repeatable unit in two semesters (not necessarily consecutive).

Unit Learning Outcomes

1.	Students will be required to develop and present a sustained argument based on critically evaluated evidence through a longer piece of writing.
2.	Students will need to be acquainted with a broader range of relevant literature, and if appropriate to explore material from disciplines other than nursing.
3.	There is the expectation of a higher level of resolved discussion of the topic.
4.	Students will need to develop a project plan in conjunction with their supervisor that presents the overall approach to their discussion and the logical progression to their conclusion.
5.	The project should not merely be a collection of findings from the literature. Rather, it should aim to draw together information from different sources (research, theory etc) to address a topic. It should present an informed and sustained argument. It may present information in a combination that has not been attempted before. It may uncover themes and patterns in the literature, interpret or analyse existing literature or add to the existing dialogue or debate on the topic.
6.	In other words the project needs to demonstrate students capacity to present a sustained piece of work that is a high standard and that reflects the level of thinking expected of graduates from masters’ programs.
