This paper would discuss about the organizational design and the various issues faced by Wal-mart related to its organizational design. Organizational design is a set of processes and pattern by which managers decide about structure and culture so that organization can control activities necessary to achieve its goals (Jones, 2010). There are traditional approaches to developing organization structure i.e. simple, departmental, divisional, matrix and more recently there are structures like networks and virtual organizations (Daft, 2004). Wal-mart has grown exponentially to become one of the largest organizations of the world and challenge in front of Wal-Mart is to choose a structure that would support its complex global operations and maintain its strategy for low prices and responsiveness to customers (Jones, 2010).
