It makes perfect business sense for Google to offer Google.cn with Chinese censorship related restrictions. Google, being a for profit corporation answerable to its numerous shareholders, cannot afford to miss a golden opportunity in the most attractive, largest and fastest growing emerging market in the world.
I fully understand that such a step by Google is a dent to its corporate image, philosophies and principles, especially its motto, ie, “Don’t be evil”. However, if we fully analyze the situation, we will find that this act is not a complete contradiction to its philosophies and principles.
I will again stress on the words made by one of the top management members that offering no information to Chinese users will be more inconsistent to the policies of Google, rather than offering limited content as per Chinese censorship restrictions.
