Assessment 3: Prevention Report Assessment Overview For this task, you will identify a Victorian or Australian crime problem, research evidence-based crime prevention solutions, and then design a plan for preventing the problem and evaluating the response. This will help students to develop their real-world research and report writing skills. . Ideally, this will be a complex social problem, with solutions that extend well beyond physical modification of the environment. You will present your proposal in a 2000 word Report (+/-10% word count). The report must follow the structure outlined below. Report Structure 1. Executive Summary (100 words) A summary of the report. 2. Background (200 words) An overview of the crime problem identified, including data to support your contention that it is indeed a problem and details as to the nature of the problem. 3. Purpose and Objectives (100 words) A statement of the overall purpose of the proposal, and up to 3 specific, achievable (and measurable) objectives. 4. Research and Practice Review (800 words) A comprehensive and well-researched synthesis of the published evidence-based crime prevention research (Australian and international) that provides evidence to support your proposal. Examples of successful real-world crime prevention practice related to your crime problem may also be included here, but priority should be placed on responses that have been evaluated so as to provide weight to your proposal. 5. Crime Prevention Proposal (400 words) A detailed outline of the specific crime prevention action(s) to be developed and implemented, and how this will be achieved. Include details of relevant key stakeholders and how they will be consulted, along with an outline of any pitfalls, risks and adverse effects of the proposal and how these will be avoided or mitigated. 6. Evaluation (400 words) A detailed outline of how the success of the prevention strategy will be measured in both the short-term and long-term using crime prevention evaluation strategies as covered in the course. The evaluation must be able to clearly measure if the objectives outlined in section 3 have been met. 7. Reference List Alphabetical and starting on a new page.
