This term paper will be discussion of an important concept, experiment, or technique.
This paper will count for 30 % of your course grade.
A list of topics follows, ideally every student would be assigned a different topic but each topic can be used by up to two students (doing separate work, no collaborations of students).
Your paper will be graded to be worth 30 points overall:
o 10 points for proper format and length
o 10 points for “originality”
o 10 points for relevance and accuracy of content
o It is due on 06/29/2017.
o Penalties of 5% up to 100% for papers turned in late.
Your topic must be chosen by 06/15/2017; speak to the instructor to confirm your choice as still available or to be assigned a topic if you have no preference.
Format: No cover pages or folders desired. Put your topic title at the top of the first page followed by your name and the date. Paper length is expected to be 5 to 6 pages of typed text with 1 ½ line spacing and 12-point font maximum. Papers must also have literature-cited section and in-text references (no special style is required). Too-short papers will be penalized, particularly when important material was absent. Too-long papers can also be penalized, especially when irrelevant material has been included.
“Originality” of your paper is that the text seems to be coming from you. Avoid using quotes, put the ideas and information of your sources in your own words. Write the paper with other students in Science 3609 as the audience.
You are expected to have at least three sources for your paper. Any sources are allowed; you are expected to confirm information from alternate sources so that your paper does not include erroneous information. Papers should fully explore ideas with effective examples and analysis. The entire paper and internal paragraphs should be organized in a lucid, orderly way.
