Family Involvement Interview Summary Research shows that parent involvement can improve students’ behavior, attendance, and achievement (The Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement, 2012) . When interviewing Ms. Okojie, a Kindergarten teacher we discussed the importance of family involvement in her classroom and she told me that she wished she had more parents to be involved because she knows that a lot of students would do a lot better if they had more parent/family involvement. She went on to discuss some of the reasons majority of her parents weren’t involved and she said it was work, school, or education. She went on to say that a lot of parents were single parents and they needed to work in order to take care of their families. She had two parents in school at night and worked in the day time and some didn’t put that much importance on education. We also discussed ways in which she tries to communicate with parents to keep them involved such as sending parent logs home to include parents in making sure their child reads, notes, and phone calls. She also said that she wished many parents knew how much them being involved matters and affects their child as well as how beneficial them being involved would be to the classr……………….
