Each group will need to identify one video on YouTube (or other video streaming service) that involves a recently discussed topic. All videos selected must require estimation of at least one unknown parameter that is to serve as the hypothesis for testing. Please send me your presentation the night prior to class so I can get them all uploaded.
Written Paper:
The written solution should include a paragraph on the relevant concepts that were used in the analysis of the system. You must also include an explanation of what and how the assumptions were made in the solution and also any outside sources used for data, with justification of why it was needed.
Finally, a short paragraph describing how your group found the video that you ended up using. It doesn’t need to be a detailed description (e.g. “we searched for XXX, clicked on video YYY, then video ZZZ… and finally found this video”), but should show your thoughts and general approach as to how the video was found and rationale for selection. Additionally, please explain why this particular video was chosen and how it is relevant to the concept recently discussed in class.
In Class Presentation:
In class presentation should be 4-6 minutes in length. You may show up to 2 minutes of the video to highlight exactly what you will be analyzing. The remainder of the time should be used for concept explanation and mathematical analysis of the video content. Presenters should highlight the relevant concepts, any known values from the video, identify estimated values from the video, and provide additional information as needed from other sources (i.e. what did you need to look up in a reference). Then, using the gathered information, presenters should determine whether the video is supported or debunked by their analysis.
