The primary method of evaluating a given process is the applicaiton of metrics. Metrics are any way of quantitatively measuring something – they are a way of “scoring” a process. Even qualitative opinion surveys transform people’s opinions into quantitative numbers. By examining these scores – the effectiveness of a process can be measured and suggestions for improvement generated.
