Ways to incorporate secondary sources could include quoting or paraphrasing from literary criticism on one of the works, providing historical on text on the setting, or some background on the authors that seems relevant. The research does not have to be a dominant feature in the essay; your analysis is of foremost importance.
We’re going to have a workshop in class where everyone brings their draft for others to proofread. The prof wants to see that we developed our essay until the final copy.
Once satisfied with the draft, write a five-page essay that incorporates at least 2-3 secondary sources. Be certain the sources you cite are reliable, such as from a peer-reviewed journal and not a personal website. One of the two sources can be from a popular publication, such as a book review of The New York Times, or a radio interview (or podcast) with an author. Wikipedia, personal blogs and websites that provide a Coles notes version of analysis (usually distinguished by the number of ads on the sites) are NOT accepted for this paper.
For the topic we have to discuss two works that we discussed in class to compare and contrast to the William Blake poem. I’ve chosen a short story called “Boys and Girls” by Alice Munro and “The Ones who Walk Away from Omelas” by Ursula K. LE Guin.
I would also like to attach some checklist and handouts that my prof gave to us to make sure we’ve written this paper correctly. So please tell me how I can send them to you.
