You began your research proposal in Unit 3. Now it is time to complete an abbreviated version of a formal research proposal on a hypothetical topic related to criminal justice and submit it. The following proposed structure (and page counts) can be used to guide the development of your Final Project. You may not address every aspect of the outline depending on your particular proposal, but most elements listed below would be included in a comprehensive research proposal.

The length of the final research proposal should be 8–12 pages long (not including title page, reference section, or appendices), double-spaced, and use APA formatting. Each project should have a title page with: name, date, course, term, title, running head; using APA format.
The final proposal should:
1.Clearly identify the topic of the paper and the specific research question that will be answered through the research project.
2.Discuss why the topic or issue is important to study and who would benefit from the findings. In other words, how is the proposed study socially, personally, or psychologically relevant.
3.Use scholarly research to support the arguments.
4.Analyze current, scholarly research that has already been conducted on your topic (also known as a literature review).
5.Relate at least four themes from the methodology of the scholarship to the current study to support your approach to conducting the research.
6.Select the appropriate methods to carry out the research.
7.Design a research plan to answer the study’s research question.
Final Project Structure
For the final research proposal (the Final Project) you need at least seven, current scholarly resources. You may use the course textbooks towards the final number of required resources (but not towards the five required articles in the literature review section). The Final Project should use formal writing style and APA formatting for citations and the reference page.
