The planned project emphases on the historic decline in teen pregnancy . Despite overall declines in teen pregnancy rates, some ethnic minority groups continue to see an increase due to a lack of parental support and specific community outreach. Birth rates are higher among Hispanic and black adolescents than among their white counterparts. The working theory of the study is that the decline has been fueled by three factors: waiting to have sex, fewer sexual partners and better use of contraception.
The national teen pregnancy rate has declined almost continuously over the last two decades. There are organizations in many communities devoted to preventing teen pregnancy—they are affiliated with churches, synagogues, schools, independent clubs, non-profit organizations, health centers, and reproductive health organizations. Numerous individual, family, and community characteristics have been linked to adolescent childbearing. For example, adolescents who are enrolled in school and engaged in learning are less likely than are other adolescents to have or to father a baby. At the family level, adolescents with mothers who gave birth as teens and/or whose mothers have only a high school degree are more likely to have a baby before age 20 than are teens whose mothers were older at their birth or who attended at least some college. In addition, having lived with both biological parents at age 14 is associated with a lower risk of a teen birth. At the community level, adolescents who live in wealthier neighborhoods with strong levels of employment are less likely to have or to father a baby than are adolescents in neighborhoods in which income and employment opportunities are more limited.
APA—I did ask for title pages for all assignments. I also posted information about proper formatting for abstracts, including an example, in the announcements and general discussion. -4
Content—while you have a good hypothesis here, the point of an abstract is to give a snapshot of the research. This was supposed to be the (made-up) results of the study you proposed in week 3. How did you research the hypothesis, and what results did you get (you were to make that up)? How would you apply the results? -4
