1. Formulate the hypotheses that will be tested.When coming up with the hypotheses, the null hypothesis (H0) must be either an existing theory or an accepted belief (Evans, 2012). H0 is not necessarily correct, but there has been no contradictory data to prove that the belief is false/incorrect. Evans (2012) explains in more detail that it can not statistically be proven that H0is true, but that 5 step process merely fails to reject it (prove its falsehood).
