The midterm essay (5-6 pages) is a critique of one of the readings from the syllabus. In this paper, you will summarize and critique the chosen reading’s main arguments. As a reminder, the essay should follow the following format: double-spaced, 12-point, Times Roman font, and one-inch margins. Students can use the citation style of their choosing (consistency is key). Written assignments are to be submitted via Turnitin in a MS-Word compatible format by 11:59pm on October 19th. Make the file name: lastname_firstname_midterm.doc. PLEASE NOTE THAT NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Questions to ponder as you outline your summary: What is the major issue in this article? How does the author approach this issue? What is the author’s argument? What theory does the author utilize to ground the arguments? What evidence does the author use to support the arguments? What are the main findings of the article? What conclusions does the author make? Think about if/how the author has improved upon the literature and where there is room for further improvement. Brainstorm some useful ideas about how our understanding of a problem might be further advanced (be reasonable).
