A leader is a person who takes responsibility for people, properties and resources, for example, a father leads the house, the principal leads the school and managers lead Non-Governmental Organizations or a government parastatal. Leadership is the ability to lead people in the right direction and it can be difficult.

Leaders think and believe that money can buy good work, bonuses can sponsor good delivery of services what they forget is that boss-employee relationship can be fostered by intrinsic motivation. Appreciating the small things people do for you as a manager promotes an environment where the workers built their self-esteem. Leadership is complex and one tends to lose trust in people and many friends, people say that leaders are self-centred, results and profits oriented other than relationship oriented.

Employees are affected by leaders who tend to destroy their confidence by embarrassing their work in front of others for wrongs. Leaders should aim to promote self-esteem among their employees by rebuking them in private, awarding them for positive behaviour. They should not focus on extrinsic motivators such as money but intrinsic motivators such as good work; good presentation and I like the fact that the office is clean. A frequency of intrinsic motivation shapes the effects of adherence to rules by employees.

Leaders should look to develop the interests of the people they rule by for example coming up with talent search shows where the workers participate. They can also give them good working conditions such as sick leaves when unwell, off days, bonuses for projects done on time, end of year parties, promotions, education loans and better salaries.

In conclusion, leadership is tough and understanding human beings is a complex job. Leaders should always aim for a win-win relationship for the workers and the company at large.
